A recruiter contacted me through LinkedIn for a Growth Marketing role at Insycle. Before even starting the interview process, they asked me to complete an assessment, which ended up feeling like I was literally doing QA on their tool. The platform was extremely difficult to use and clearly not ready. It didn’t feel like a finished product you’d use to hire a growth marketer, and I honestly can’t see how there’s product-market fit in its current state. I genuinely felt like I was being used to test and troubleshoot their tool, not actually demonstrate my skills. I spent 5 hours dealing with technical issues instead of focusing on the work itself, sending Loom screenshots and videos every step of the way. After all that frustration, they then asked me to record a video explaining how a specific part of the tool works and what the company does. I did exactly what they asked, clearly and directly. The next day, they responded with: “You did good on the technical side, but not on the marketing side.” After an assessment like that, this feedback felt dismissive and disconnected from what the process actually required. This was one of the worst interview experiences I’ve had. I’m sharing this so others can make informed decisions going in. I hope they take feedback seriously (I sent this to the recruiter) and improve how they treat candidates.
