Hi everyone, just wanted some opinions on my situation at work. Over the past 3-4 months, my manager has brought up / suggested the idea of looking externally & internally for opportunities. He has repeatedly cited that I have a lot of potential & wants me to "focus on my career" & that as a manager, "my career & growth is his utmost focus & concern as a manager" (in his own words) especially since I am still early in my career (3 years of work experience, this is my first job out of college). Just in today's 1-on-1, he said I should take online assessments with other companies to assess my standing & any lacking/strong areas but "to lack him know if I get any offer so he can help me evaluate if they are good or he can offer something better or match at the current company". I have to preface we have a good working relationship & get along well in social & work settings although we don't interact or hang out after work. I am asking this because it does feel weird! I am leaning towards him being very caring & taking a genuine concern for my career & growth. What are you guys' opinions?
