Who and what jobs are going to survive the AI wave?

I have roughly 5 years of experience or so on top of a masters degree in statistics. I currently am working on an ML engineer, but it’s honestly more infrastructure than actual modeling work. When it comes to this new world of technology that we live in, who do you think is going to actually survive in the field? Is it the person who spends hours treating this like a craft they are honing outside of work hours by reading books and working on personal projects and problems? What’s your take on it?
