I joined a company about 6 months ago only to get a new offer just now. Common sense would suggest to take the higher TC offer on sight, but I wanted to make sure there aren’t any red flags before doing so. Not to mention, how would my resume look with either a 6 month gap or a 6 month role? Current Role: Data Scientist in Cincinnati, OH TC: $90k, unknown bonus, no stock, no 401K match until 1 year Pros: \- F500 + Private Sector \- LCOL area \- Google Cloud Cons: \- I feel like the smartest person on the team as a junior \- Low diversity: I am one of the few non-Indians on my team, and it can get lonely \- Role is heavily tied to SAP \- Can’t find a tech community here New Role: Data Scientist in Washington DC TC: $121k, no bonus, no stock Pros: \- Bigger City (more to do, more networking opportunities, etc.) \- Good job security + benefits \- Closer to relatives in NYC Cons: \- Public sector: it is apparently very hard to get back to the private sector \- HCOL area \- Unknown tech stack; could be outdated \- I think most people on this site would hate me for working here
