Got laid off this month and now back in the market looking for job. Last time i was looking for job was 5 years ago and looks like a lot has changed. I need some advice on this weird application process I went through. I went through an a very new( to me) application process this morning and need some advice on how this works and what I can do better next time. The recruiter of the company called me because she was given my resume by someone. The role is product management related. She asked me to go through the application process and sent me two links. I applied to the one that I thought matched closely with my current job role. The process included: Step 1: Filling out basic info ( name address email) Step 2: video recording where the questions were asked on the spot and I had to record myself after hearing the question. it was just one question " tell me about yourself" time limit 1;30 sec. I knew this would be the question so i did my best. This is common interview question and i have been in the field for 10 years so not sure how i might have screwed it that bad. Step 3: Asked 5 questions that were based on job scenario. I answered them well based on what I would do. Nothing super serious or unknown questions in product dev world. Step 4: Directed me to do an aptitude test ( 15 min for 50 questions) which included hard math, geometry and some English test. Second part was an assessment which asked basic questions such as " are you easily irritated" and " are you motivated most of the times" and I had to rate them most likely not often and so forth. Right after completing the steps ( in two minutes), I received an email stating " After reviewing your assessment, we've made the decision to hold off on moving forward with your interview process." So there is process of auto rejection based on what I answered for the assessment and not even based on my resume? I don't even remember submitting my resume during the application process.
