I've been trying to move to a better job for the last 2 years. In 2025, alone I've interviewed with \~ 10 different companies ranging from no-name startups to big-tech out of which I sat in 4 final rounds. I haven't managed to snag an offer from any of them. I honestly have no idea where I am falling short. In one of my most recent interviews, a final onsite round focused mainly on behavioral interviews at a startup, I genuinely thought I did well. However, I received a rejection saying: *“We sometimes struggled to get precise visibility into the scope of your responsibilities, what you personally owned versus what was driven at the team level, and how you approach reflection on risks or failure scenarios.”* That feedback feels strange to me, because it seems heavily hinged to my past experience from nearly 4 years ago, rather than what I’ve been doing recently or how I operate today. The technical rounds have been all over the place. Some interviewers threw completely random questions at me, with the expectation that I should answer everything correctly on the spot. The bar right now feels less like “can you do the job” and more like “can you perfectly respond to every random ass question we throw,” which is honestly exhausting. I feel stuck and honestly burnt out by the entire process. I’d really appreciate any advice, perspective, or words of wisdom from people who’ve been through something similar and managed to break out of this cycle. Sorry for the rant. I just needed to get this off my chest.
