After going through quite a few interviews, I’ve found this to be about 95% true: most recruiters make a decision on the spot about whether you’ll move forward to the Hiring Manager round. When a recruiter says, “I’ll get back to you after the Hiring Manager reviews the notes,” it’s often just a polite way of keeping you hanging. Do you think recruiters who screen a large number of candidates would pass along detailed notes for every person they speak with? If they feel you're a strong fit, they usually move you forward right away or within a day. If not, you’re unlikely to hear back with good news later. I’ve experienced this firsthand and searched this question countless times. Just sharing what I’ve observed based on my own journey. :)
