Last week, I got an email from the internal recruiter wanting to set a phone interview. She told me she would call me at 2:00pm today. The email gave me the vibe that this would just be a quick screening call so I did not prepare. 2:00pm comes and she calls me. She sounded very nice and we even had a little bit of small talk. She briefly asked about my experience which I answered confidently. She then asked why I was looking for a new job, specifically the one that I applied for, I said for growth opportunities and how I thought the job post description aligned with what I currently do now. She asked what I knew about the company, this is when I started to freeze up and just said how I only know as much as what I saw on the website. THEN she started asking me behavioral questions, we only got to two questions. Not sure if there was only 2 she wanted to ask or she realized I was unprepared and didn’t want to move forward. I feel so dumb and unprepared as I really wanted this job. But at the same time, most initial job calls I had have been screening, not necessarily an actual interview.
