Man… I am gutted

Applied for a job and the department manager emailed me not even two hours later. Had an hour long phone call with him. Told me to give him a week before I make a decision elsewhere and he really liked me. An hour and a half online assessment, an hour interview with two team members, a 4hr assessment, before which he called me to essentially say I have nothing to worry about and inferring I’d get the job. Even texted me the morning of to say it’s just an assessment and not to worry. He then invited me into the office to meet him and another team member for an hour and a half type interview conversation. I thought everything went really well. Didn’t get back to me until two days later than he said he would to tell me he’s pursuing another candidate. I’m soon to be unemployed so this hit extra hard. Wtf did I do…
