So, I’ve been working as a data analyst in an ad agency for about 2 years, but honestly, I felt stuck. The role itself had potential for growth, but with the kind of responsibilities I had, I felt like I’d already maxed out what I could learn. To grow more, I’d have to take on tasks outside of my actual role, which didn’t make sense anymore. That’s when I decided to look for other opportunities. I still wanted to stay in data analytics, but I was also open to exploring other fields as long as I could use my skills, learn new things, and challenge myself. While scrolling through job portals, I came across a position I wasn’t super familiar with, but the responsibilities and qualifications looked doable, so I applied. Surprisingly, they got back to me pretty quickly. Interview process: • First was an HR interview, just talking about my background and tools I use. Short and chill. • Next was with the HR manager. This was still considered an “initial” interview. They asked about my past experiences, situational/behavioral questions, and my technical skills. I felt I did really well because the manager told me on the spot that I passed. • Final stage was with the CEO. It was online since he was overseas. The HR manager prepped me and told me to highlight my technical skills, which made sense, but during the actual interview, I got caught off guard by some technical questions. I answered them, but I think he was more interested in my process than the actual answer. Walked out of that one not feeling too confident. A few days later, HR told me I had to do a technical assessment. Honestly, I was surprised I was still in the game at that point. I got all the answers right but my explanation was a bit messy since it was my first time doing a technical exam during an interview. I just kept telling myself, “Well, at least the answers were correct.” Then—good news. HR set up a job offer discussion with me. I was SO happy, like almost crying-happy. They said they’d send me a formal JO email, but it took nearly 2 weeks to arrive, which made me super anxious (imagine waiting after getting that far, thinking they might ghost me). Finally, the email came in and I was beyond relieved. Best part? I managed to secure this new job before my last day at my old company, so I won’t have to deal with being unemployed even for a short while—which is a huge deal for me since I’m supporting myself. To anyone job hunting right now: I know it’s tough, but don’t give up. Trust your capabilities. The process can be long and draining, but things do fall into place eventually.
