Finally my turn to ring the bell! Thanks to everyone in the sub for the solidarity along the way. Sharing my experience, timeline and the things that actually helped. * Time from starting job search to offer: 5 months * Total cold applications: 14 (none converted to interview) * Total applications via my network: 3 (all converted to interview) * Total offers: 1 * Time from successful application to offer: 12 weeks (4 rounds, 16 interviews) I know everyone says it, but your network truly is your greatest resource - especially at the senior level. I interviewed with 3 companies and at all 3 of them I was able to get personally recommended to the hiring manager by former colleagues or vendors. My biggest regret is the hours wasted on cold applications that went nowhere and actually really started to knock my confidence/zap my energy. The interviews along the way that didn't end in an offer only made me sharper and better prepared for the biggest swing of them all, and the one that ended in success. To everyone in the trenches: hang in there! Your time is coming! Edited to say that u/ExaBrain made the very good point that "each application helps me restructure my CV, familiarise myself with my own value prop and really allow me to articulate my values and what is important to me" and I totally agree. Great callout and made me re-evaluate my comment that the hours on cold applications were wasted!
