So I been with my company for almost 2 years. I work Manufacturingm. Worked up a reputation of being reliable. Well Recently our Team Lead was fired for being intoxicated on the job. So his position went up for grabs. only 2 people were interested in it, Me who was left to train a bunch of new people for a whole month and take the lead filling in the team leads duties and another person who was out for that whole month on paternity leave. Well, Interview time comes and originally i walked in confident. But by time It was over, I walked out more annoyed then anything. For a few reasons. They figured out I struggled with Situational questions and then just kept hammering me with them. Secondly, they kept bringing up "Think about your training" but the thing is, i had no clue what training they were talking about because the Previous team lead refused to train anyone as he was good at impressing the people above him but was hated by the people below him. Was lazy about his duties and cared more about showing off to everyone his knowledge instead of teaching. but would take credit for anything we taught ourselves so we could actually get the job done and not have to deal with him. Anytime we needed him, we ended up regretting it because it came with feeling belittled instead of actually getting help. It got to a point it eventually started slipping out about him in the Interview because theu kept bringing it and him up and they actually had the look on their face or "Is he serious right now?" So I couldnt really say what I wanted and ultimately spent 45 minutes either speaking out my ass or not knowing how to answer even noticed I was frustrated fiddling with my PPE glasses. Almost immedialty after the next persons interview, I had already noticed signs that they had already selected who they wanted to promote. Supervisor showing him stuff on the computer and then texted me dismissing me from the Team Lead duties but insuring me id still he doing it in the future as needed. All throughout the shift having 1on1s with him. For me, Im not even upset of not getting the promotion. Its more how the whole thing was handled. Like I almost feel disrespected and my time wasted. Edit: part of his refusal to train us was also on things that would help us grow for future lead positions stating "If you need to learn it, we'll teach you. "
