Job offer but still interviewing

Hello! I have been interviewing with 2 companies. The one I am still waiting on I am working with a third party head hunter. (They found me). I had that interview on the 13th. The hiring company said he wanted to make a decision by the end of the following week. (The 20th) I still have not received any constructive feedback. The only feed back I have is from the recruiter is “other candidates I have sent through have been rejected. They were rejected that same day or early the next. No news is good news at this point”. Well this morning I received another offer from a different company that I was interviewing with direct. It doesn’t exactly line up with what I was looking for but it’s better than my current position. The one I am still waiting on much better aligns in all aspects. I hate accepting and rescinding offers. That burnt me really bad this past year so I’m trying to not burn bridges. I almost feel like this position I’m waiting on is that maybe they offered the position to someone else and keeping me on the hook in case it falls through? It has been 1 week & 1/2 since I should’ve heard something based on the interview. I thought since it was third party I could say something to the head hunter but I am unsure.
