I am a current job seeker. Senior Director / female / early 40s. I see a lot of questions and comments here that vary so much in terms of whether or not to negotiate a first offer. I have always felt that offers are made with the idea that some negotiation will happen (unless the offer is expressly made as a final best offer) There are a lot more comments lately to “accept the offer, don’t negotiate in this market” So please participate in my informal poll. And if you wouldn’t mind give a bit of context, type of role (mainly seniority/experience), when this happened (trying to quantify “this market”, so open to all time frames but interested in offers in the last year or less), any additional context on the process you’re willing to share.
