Interview Experience
Long post incoming...I am looking at instructional design jobs in public universities in my state. I had a very quick set of interviews with senior admin, the entire ID team, and a campus visit that felt more like meeting a family than being scrutinized. It is a wonderful university and a wonderful team, and the perfect role for me. Here's the thing. My final visit ended with a senior admin and the director/hiring manager. They told me that they hoped to wrap up the process in about two weeks. My entire process with this university has been super fast from application to round one, round two, and a campus visit. Always communicating, thanking me for my thank you cards, full two way comms. The day after that interview/visit, the job posting and req# was deactivated. My application is still live in the system, "In Progress" and in green. Two days after my visit, the hiring manager went on a weeklong vacation. He told me about it, so there was that transparency in advance. I KNOW hiring in higher Ed is a series of layers. Especially a large public university. I KNOW the hiring manager has to send a memo recomending the finalist. And then a bunch of people need to sign things. THEN HR does whatever it does. THEN you get an offer lol. But how long? And why can't they just say hey we want you to join us but are waiting to hear from HR about paperwork?
