Froze

Was super confident and excited about the interview for the weeks leading up. Brushed up on my CS & resume points. Got all shaky when we got on the video call and could barely speak. Felt like I was about to waste their time, so I apologized and called it off at the very beginning. I feel 1000x stupider and more guilty & embarrassed than if I had just taken the full time and bombed. Worst part is, I think I would have done alright. The interviewer was so nice & happy, and even tried to get me to reconsider and was very gracious, even bummed, when I bowed out. I couldn't have asked for a better situation and I threw it away. It was probably a combination of not overpreparing for months like you're "supposed to", and building this one opportunity up into this personal idol that I couldn't live up to when it was in front of me. I still have 5 or 6 code tests & interviews for different companies, but I felt such a connection to this role that I put too much pressure on it. Anything similar ever happen to anyone else here? More importantly, did you apply again in the future and get another interview? Thank you for reading. ​ Tl;dr - felt amazing about FANG interview until we got on the call. Froze, bailed.
