Please tell me there is hope for me in this situation. I am so frustrated that THIS was my interview I had been worked up all week for. I believe I had a very unfair interview process that was basically just a formality. Got an interview request last week and it was booked for the following week. I was told it would be at X time with X interviewer. I am familiar with this company and know a "panel" of people typically are in this interview. I prep all week, had to leave work early, and get settled in. Enter the call and there is one person there. This person notes that the other two folks would not be making it as person A is on PTO and person B (the person who was listed as my main interviewer) was double booked (Red flag? Why wouldn't they reschedule then? Mind you, this time was NOT a time I listed as one that worked for me. But I made it work) Anyways, we start the interview, she gives her introduction and I learn she doesn't work at the location I apply to. She asked for my introduction and asks if I am good to relocate - all typical questions and we bond over similar experiences. All is going well. Then, THATS IT. She wraps it up with "anymore questions for me" and I ask a few to keep the conversation going. Then she goes and tells me that I am their final interview, and that they will be comparing notes on Monday. WHAT NOTES???? Not a SINGLE HR question was asked, nothing about my experience and nothing that would question how I would be doing this position. Mind you, this is en ENGINEERING position. Am I wrong to think this panel already had their pick and simply got lazy and decided not to give me a fair shot? I didn't get a full panel of interviewers, I didn't get to meet my manager I would be working with, I am the last interview, (through internal sources) the manager who was supposed to interview me WAS AVAILABLE after our proposed meeting time (which fit in the time slot I said would work best for me), and of course, NO questions was asked about me and my work experience. The only thing I am riding on is I am truly a great fit for this position. I meet every requirement as well as preferred qualifications. She did mention I have great skills for this role and didn't seem rushed (I think?). I feel cheated and feel like I wasn't given a fair shot at this role. TLDR: I had an interview for an engineering role that I prepared heavily for, but it ended up being very short and informal. The main interviewer was double booked, and the other panel members didn’t attend, so I only spoke with one person who didn’t ask any behavioral or technical questions. I’m frustrated because I don’t feel like I was given a fair opportunity to demonstrate my qualifications, especially since I’m a strong fit for the role. I’m unsure if this was just a scheduling issue or if they had already made a decision before my interview. Edit: I DID send an email shortly after this interview to my recruiter. I do not have access to any emails besides my recruiter. Also, this company doesn't work on Fridays.... how great for me. I got an automatic response from the recruiter and he as out of office both Thursday and Friday... so won't be getting any sort of clarification or response from anyone until Monday which is when the team is "sharing notes". So very unlikely IMO that I would be getting another interview.
