I just completed a karat technical coding interview for a unicorn company. I prepared only leetcode questions for this interview and felt pretty confident going in. However, the interview was going over an existing code consisting of multiple implemented classes. I had to find a bug in the code and fix it, and afterwards implement a function. Lastly, I had to come up with a couple of potential test cases. I solved all of these. The interviewer said that the runtime isn't important, but I came up with a good runtime complexity nonetheless. My issue is that I took a super long time implementing the function since I had to keep scrolling up and down to familiarize myself with the code (think about 200 lines of code with 5 classes that were implemented already). At times, I think that I looked foolish because I explained the correct solution before implementing it, but the implementation took 4x the amount of time it took to come up with the solution. Has anyone ever had a similar experience in an interview? I am not sure if there would have been more questions if I got the problem done faster, hence I don't know if I
passed or not. I have 24 hours to schedule a redo, but I'm not sure if I should.
