Recently, I had an interview with British Telecom, it's an internship in Bengaluru, India. The interview process was well-structured and consisted of four rounds, each assessing different aspects of my technical and behavioral skills. Candidate Information: Status: Currently a 6-month Intern at British Telecom Office Location: Bengaluru, India Interview Date: August, 2024 How I Received the Interview Call? I received an interview opportunity on campus where I was selected for the internship. Recruitment Process Overview Initial Screening Technical Interview 1 and 2 HR Interview
Round 1 Initial Screening (HackerEarth Test) The HackerEarth test lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes, focusing on coding aptitude and the ability to optimize code for edge cases. Questions Asked: There were two questions. The first was easy; it was just the difference between an array's clockwise and anti-clockwise sum. The other question was to reach from 1 to N such that if I move from I to J, I should be a divisor of J (Requires memoization). Obstacles: The Second Question required a hashmap instead of a DP table.
Round 2 Technical Interview 1 The 45-minute interview was conducted via video call, except for candidates from Bangalore, who had an in-person session. It focused on my projects, with the interviewer reviewing my deployed work and discussing the event loop in Node.js. We then went over Dijkstra’s algorithm and a few problem-solving puzzles. The interview concluded with a discussion about my experience as a management trainee at TATA Steel. Questions Asked: Projects, Nodejs, Dijkstra, Puzzles, Summer Intern Obstacles: Make Sure they hear you clearly over the call. 24 out of 40 made it to the
next round
Round 3 Technical Interview 2 The 45-minute interview was conducted via video call for most candidates, with in-person sessions for those in Bangalore. It started with a discussion on my projects, followed by an in-depth conversation on OOP concepts, where the interviewer was impressed with my understanding of Java. We then covered the Traveling Salesman Problem and a few problem-solving puzzles. When asked about my hobbies, I mentioned analyzing cricket, which led to a detailed discussion on swing bowling and pitch conditions. The interview wrapped up with me analyzing a popular match from a unique perspective. Questions Asked: Projects, OOPS, DP, Puzzles, CV Obstacles: Make Sure they hear you clearly over the call. (Again) 10 out of 24 made the
next round.
Round 4 HR Round The final round lasted 15 minutes and, unexpectedly, was also an elimination round. We were asked about our willingness to relocate to Bangalore, our knowledge of the company, and any plans for further studies. The entire selection process was completed within a day, and I received my offer letter by 10 PM. Final Output: Best of luck. If you are selected you will meet me soon (If I am still here) and if not this is not the end of the world and is in no measure your reflection of efforts. Something better is waiting for you. Best of luck! Also, I love you GFG. You are absolute champions I will not lie.
