Landing a placement at a reputed company like LTIMindtree can be a transformative experience for any aspiring engineer. Here, I’ve shared my detailed experience of the entire campus placement process for the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) role, including insights into each round, key learnings, and tips to help future candidates prepare effectively. Hiring Process The hiring process consisted of five rounds: 1. Aptitude and Reasoning Round Difficulty Level: Easy to Medium This was an MCQ-based test covering aptitude, logic, and reasoning. Scoring well in this round was crucial, as it determined the selection level (L0, L1, L2). Tip: If you’re preparing for competitive exams, clearing this round should be manageable.
Note: A significant number of candidates were eliminated after this stage. 2. Communication Round Nature: Non-elimination round Mode: Virtual (via specialized software) Tasks Included: Reading sentences aloud. Identifying and correcting grammatical errors in sentences. Speaking for 2 minutes on two given topics. English proficiency tests covering basic grammar, reading, and listening exercises. Listening to an audio passage and answering related questions. Requirement: Achieving a minimum threshold was mandatory to proceed. 3.
Coding Round Number of Questions: 2 Key Concepts: Arrays, Strings, HashMap, ArrayList Performance: Successfully executed both codes. 4. Technical Interview Scheduled Time: 3:15 PM (Interviewer joined at 4:55 PM) Duration: Approximately 30 minutes Interviewer Profile: 14 years of experience in Java development, programming, cloud, and frameworks. Questions Asked: Introduction: Basic self-introduction. Machine Learning: Decision Tree vs. Random Forest for small datasets and why. Programming Proficiency: Mentioned Java as my preferred language. Coding Tasks (shared screen to solve): A string problem (partially solved). Find the second largest element in an array (fully solved). Java Questions: Final keyword Abstract keyword Exception handling Python Questions: Exception handling Difference between list and tuple Multiple constructors in Python Pip (Python package manager) Experience : While the interviewer was experienced, my machine learning projects were not explored in detail, which was a bit disappointing. 5.
HR Round Unfortunately, I was not selected for this round. Timeline Registration: 19th August 2024 Exam Date: Held 2–3 months after registration. Gap Between Rounds: 15–20 days each. Key Learnings and Advice for Future Candidates To succeed in LTIMindtree placements, focus on: Core Subjects: Computer Networks, DBMS, OOPs. Programming Proficiency: Excel in one programming language (Java, C++, or Python). Strong Fundamentals: Solid knowledge in these areas can enhance your technical round performance. Overall Experience While I couldn’t fully showcase my machine learning skills, the experience was insightful. It provided a clear understanding of the hiring process and areas for improvement.
